Rhodes with children: our tips for families

We travel to Rhodes with our own daughter, so we know what works for children – and for parents who also want to relax. These are the days out, beaches and restaurants we recommend to families staying at Villa Pastida.

At a glance

  • Is Rhodes suitable for children? Absolutely: sandy beaches with calm, shallow water, a large water park, nature parks and child-friendly tavernas.
  • Close to the villa: the Bee Museum (under 5 min), go-karting (10 min), Faliraki with its water park and bowling (approx. 15 min), Rhodes Farm (18 min) and Seven Springs (20 min).
  • When the weather is less kind: the Bee Museum close to Pastida – fun for all ages, including the little ones.
  • Best beach with children: Faliraki (shallow) and Tsambika (sand, water sports).
  • Restaurant with a play area: Anemos in Tsambika – enclosed grounds, so parents can dine at leisure.

Fun days out with children on Rhodes

From a day on the water to a race on the go-kart track: these outings are all a short distance from Villa Pastida.

Our own family's first choice is a boat trip with Summer Dreams: swimming in turquoise bays, a generous lunch on board and a Dutch-Flemish family running the cruise.

Practical tips for families

  • Plan outings in the morning and rest in the afternoon: between 3 pm and 5:30 pm it is quiet time in Greece.
  • Don't drink the tap water; you can buy bottled water at the mini markets in Pastida.
  • A rental car is handy: most outings are a 10 to 30-minute drive away.
  • Use plenty of sunscreen and find shade around midday – the sun is strong, even in spring and autumn.
